Flat and nasty? You can come to my house and drink the bud

Have you tried the new rocket bottles from guinness? Good stuff I tell ya! You probably wouldn't like that either since it tastes like the Draught can version.

The "widget" is actually a plastic device which sits at the bottom of the can. When the can is opened, the widget releases a mixture of beer and nitrogen that creates a surge of bubbles. When you pour it into a glass these bubbles eventually settle to form the famous tight white head creating the perfect pint experience from the pub right at home.

Some homeade Pinot Noir from a neighbour, some Ernest & Julio Gallo Turning Leaf Merlot. Nothing fancy, I drink for effect. A friend gave me a very tasty German WeiBbier (Wheat Beer?) Erdinger Weissbrau, Mit feiner Hefe der flasche gereift. (whatever that means???). It was quite tasty, and the bottle is keeping the wine bottles company till recycle day on thursday. That reminds me, I should finish up that wine too.

I like that idea, but for me anything even remotely simulating a "proper pub" is 2 hours away.

Was the "wheat" beer cloudy looking? If so, it was probably wheat beer. How as the homemade Pee-know-NWahhh!

I like the bottles fine.. been drinking Guinness for 20+ years. Draught at a bar doesn't taste this way.. maybe the local distributor just doesn't have a clue how to handle the cans.. I only got them twice and they were flat. Go figure.

Hey xortam, I've been going to that Thai place for lunch a lot lately. We should hook up soon. They expanded it, so easier to get into now.

Weiß is white, not wheat.. maybe this was as opposed to dark beer?

Yeah, your probably right. But It was cloudy and tasted like a wheat ale to me. Actually quite good. But somepeople may find it flat and nasty.

I haven't gotten into the Pee-know-NWahhh! yet. The Guinness is out, so I should try a glass. I hope it tastes as good as you made it sound.
I bet I couldn't find a pub to serve Guinness on tap within 2hrs. You KNOW when you live in the sticks WHEN......

Weissbier is indeed made with wheat. In many of the pubs here you order it as "Weizen". Here's a bit of history for the Weissbier:

My wife used to strictly drink Weizen ... specifically Red Hook (WA) Unfiltered Wheat. I've always been a big Red Hook fan and they do many great brews. We couldn't find the Weizen any more so now she only drinks their Sunrye which is another summer drink ... slightly unfiltered and has a touch of rye. I used to love their rye beer but they stopped making it. These are seasonal beers so she has to tough it during the winter (champagne and wine ... poor baby ).
