Well our new employee just left and I think it all went well. She has no real programming experience and she was hired as a programmer (poor kid). We went through what is normally the first 4 weeks of class work in 3.5 hours (poor kid). Some times I wonder why she took the job . I forget how much fun it is to teach OOP; tonight we went all the way through Complex Data Types and overloading (poor kid).
Normally we would not hire someone with out the min class work / training but this is a project with the local uni (They gave us the hires and are helping to pay them). Not sure she really understood what she was getting into (poor kid).
If she pulls this off she will be quite advanced when she finally takes her programming classes.
Anyway I was really impressed on how hard she is working on all this. I really don't see a lot of this kind of work ethic from the local uni (Chico state).
This makes me want to teach again...
