If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.
Jeremy Clarkson "806 brake horsepower..and that on that limp wrist faerie liquid the Americans call petrol, if you run it on the more explosive jungle juice we have in Europe you'd be getting 850 brake horsepower..."

There's the obvious part about it being rather safer to fire rounds from inside a gun as opposed to holding the casing in one hand while poking the primer with the other.
The barrel of the gun makes the combustion of the powder much more effective, both by giving it a much greater distance to accelerate the bullet over and by increasing the pressure that the propellent burns at which increases the speed and efficiency of the deflagration (same type of rapid combustion as in a car engine.) It also makes aiming just a tad easier, plus the rifling (spiral groves cut into the inside of the barrel) makes the bullet spin which stabilizes it in flight.

^^^^ what he said.
different parts of the weapon contribute to different things. the barrel length and rifling (along with the grain of the round itself - there are "optimal matches" of the two), if it is a freefloating barrel, and if it is semi-auto or not all impact how accurate the round is. generally the round itself and the barrel length and rifling help determine muzzle velocity and distance the round will travel. the buffer springs (if semi-auto), any recoil compensation on the muzzle, and the weight of the weapon help determine recoil effects. the trigger "weight" controls how easy or hard it is to squeeze the trigger, which can have a big effect on the accuracy - more so when doing stress shooting and reflexive firing. all of these things can make a huge difference as far as weapon effectiveness."And yet, after spending 20+ years trying to evolve the user interface into something better, what's the most powerful improvement Apple was able to make?
