While not as up to date, there is another "free" mapping program I've found online based on older satellite images.

One of the more interesting locations is downtown Washington DC around the whitehouse. Seems that security dictates that the roofs of such buildings be "editted."

Yeah, that's facinating. I wonder what's on those roof tops that needs to be censored. Snipers?

Your country is so small the satellite can't find it!

Keyhole came with an NVidia card I used to have. I remeber that at the time it only had the US in the database. Have they added Canada yet? I noticed that CNN seemed to be using Keyhole tech for maps of Iraq. Is that available now too? What about the rest of the Middle East? It would be cool to spy on my friends in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv if they're available. Not to mention checking out Mecca and Tehran.

Yeah wouldn't be able to give an accurate percentage, but a good deal of the land in Japan is unusable in terms of construction of modern housing and such. Hence the high cost of living in places like Tokyo and the tendency to build upwards if at all possible. I'm not sure about the rest of Japan, but Tokyo is rather densly populated for the amount of area it occupies.

Here's my spread (hope this works... Haven't done this in a while...)

This must have been taken the autumn after we moved in or the following spring. I can still see the scar on the lawn where we removed the wheelchair ramp.

Stinger missiles and snipers, just in case they try a 9/11 style attack again. There are also Patriot-3 missile batteries around Washington, though not exactly in plain view.

The authority to shoot down a civilian plane is already there for both land based missiles and fighter planes, if necessary.

The derivation of the name "Keyhole" is likely the US KH series spy satellites, which were also named KeyHole.

The earlier KH-11's are very much like the Hubble telescope with a mirror configured for ground observations, an orbital manuvering engine, a different instrument package and satellite uplink gear. In fact the KH-11 and Hubble were transported in the same type of shipping container.

A lot of people think that the problem with Hubbles mirror came down to Perkin-Elmer (now Hughes Danbury Optical Systems) making it using the KH-11's profile. Kodak cut the backup mirror and it was configured correctly.

Of course the official story says that Perkin-Elmer didn't use the same testing gear as Kodak and this let the error creep in, but everyone who believes that story can raise their hands

This image was taken sometime between the end of June 2002 and mid August 2002.

Our Patio cover was built in June 2002 and we still had the Red and White Toyotas.

It's nice of Sedgwick County to provide a rather massive amount of data online, you can print detailed maps, and of course good quality aerial photos. The "X" marks the spot (that I'm sitting at right now to be specific.)
