  • Naturally grown Thanksgiving turkeys

Known as "Heritage" style turkeys these are grown over a longer period (8 vs. 3 months) on a natural diet and taste MUCH better than the mass-produced birds you get in supermarkets.

I'm lucky enough to live about 3 miles from such a farm and have been getting Thanksgiving birds there since I was a kid.

I would like to try this turkey. Especially as they seem a more realistic size, than the ones you find on supermarket shelves at christmas.

When i quit smoking in the past, still smoking. I did find my choice in food was slightly different.

I've recently quit smoking (3 months) so stinky pork is something to look forward to

I remember as a kid getting Turkeys from a farm - and they stunk pretty good, even while cooking. Tasted mighty fine, though.

Seems strange that only "game" meat is generally expected to be "gamey".

These birds are MUCH more tasty than "regular" birds. The flavor is richer, not gamey, and to me a bit sweeter....if thats the right word (?).

They smell scrumptious as evidenced by both Erik and our dog Spike sitting in front of the oven for most of the day, drooling

All I know is when we have city type relatives over for a holiday and have turkey it's a fight to see who gets leftovers to take home with 'em.
