    Same here.

The WTC collapse on 9/11 was a bit different for me, because I saw it live in person and not on TV. I clearly remember the OMFG feeling.

The 9/11 is probably the main one I caught live, I just walked into my house and saw the plane crash into the building and said to my brother something about those effects be very good, he umms and ahhs.

Then I realise its actually a proper news report, at that point OMFG is the only possible reaction. I felt stunned like I had been hit with a bat.

Has anyone mentioned this date already?
        June 4, 1989
the student-demonstration for freedom and democracy on the Tian'anmen Square in Beijing, the bloody military crack-down on it and the martial law.

#1 The '89 revolution back home. I was just 5 then but several things I remember quite vividly-one of the news anchors was piss-drunk, the national TV station stopping their broadcast, Ceausescu's speech in front of a progressively angrier mob, his subsequent trial and execution...oh, and it was so weird how during his trial that night he kept looking at his watch, maybe expecting to be rescued. What a bunch of bullshit that whole thing was...Did he deserve to be removed from office and exiled? YES. Should he have been shot like a dog on Christmas? NO.

            In no particular order:

-Again in Romania, the three miner riots, when they just marched on Bucharest and twice wreaked a lot of havoc and showed just how bloody incompetent our police&military force is.

-Yeltsin on a tank in '92...years later, Yeltsin doing the boogie at a rock concert

-Romania beating Argentina at the '94 World Cup (now we can't even beat Armenia )

            -

Yes. No one knows where he is now.
The June 4 event happened before the break-down of the Wall. I suppose that the blood of Chinese students and citizens showed the people in East Europe clearly, what could happend to them and why they should do everything to bury this threat forever.
