This years don't drink and drive campaign

Starts well by tackling "Oh have another drink" preasure that you get in the pub then spoils by going into the old shock routine.

For some reason Bar staff and some members of the public still find it hard to understand why you're not drinking beer when you're driving.

It would be interesting if they could also bring in road side blood testing. Thats should catch people on drugs who shouldn't be driving either.

Blood testing would be just a little too much of an invasion for my liking. I don't drive though so I guess I can't talk :\

I always say to the bar tender. Give me twenty pints then walk out in front of me when I'm driving. They don't like that very much.

Yup people should not try to get you to drink if your driving or visa versa. When we go out we get taxis, it's just fair that way.

This is a site about a girl who got hit by a drunk driver. The pics on that page are all her, and one of the driver three years later; he still can't forgive himself for driving drunk.

we have testing strips in our grocery stores at checkout for alcohol content. cheap too. maybe they should carry those in bars as well.

That site is absolutely horrendous, I feel sorry for both the girl and the guy, but more so for that poor girl.

I'm speechless. Horrifc injuries actually showing some of the possible consequences rather than just the accident. Would be hard to stomach but it may make people think twice.

People also need to remember that in the morning you can still be unsafe to drive.

BTW, this story is about my best friend and his brother. I just want the clear message of DONT DRINK AND DRIVE to come across. It's 3 pages btw, kind of hard to see at the bottom.

Got to admit it I've done it.

Our house had been broken into the weekend before and still wasn't 100% secure. I was out late drinking and rang home and no answer. The phones next to mother bed and never before then had she failed to answer it.

My friend knew the score and I considered ringing the police. However I knew they wouldn't respond and it would take me thirty minutes or so too walk home. Too far from the main road to get a taxi quickly.

My friend handed the keys to his friends car and drove home. I got home too discover that my mothers hearing had deterorated to a stage where she couldn't hear the amplified bell anymore and she was asleep.

So if I got caught

a) Drinking all day so well over the limit

b) Taking a car without the owners permission

c) Driving without insurance.

How far would the judge have thrown the keys???

Then the's morning after which I've done countless times in the past as have many who say they don't drink and drive.

So now I don't go out midweek in case I need to drive to work. That way theres no preasure from friends to have a drink.

Plan my weekend so that my countryside walking is always the morning before I go drinking.

Over the years I've had several arguments with various family members about refusing too drive to the shops becuase I had a skinful the night before. Strange as they're very anti drink driving.
