I haven't done a movie trailer madness in a while, mainly because of the lack of material, so I decided to get one rolling for the holiday movie season.
We start today with a litte Hong Kong love'n. House of Flying Daggers is Zhang Yimou's (Hero) newest martial arts flick to reach US shores, and is apparently already out in limited release. Don't know too much about the film besides it looks like another Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon/Hero like martial arts drama with Ziyi Zhang (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Hero) and Andy Lau (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0490489/). Looks promising, despite a slightly cheesy trailer - though if the movie came out of Hong Kong without the cheese factor you'd have to wonder if it were any good.

mmmmmm....Jennifer Garner in a slightly revealing, tight, red leather outfit. Need I say anymore?
Elektra: http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/elektra/
This looks interesting, and definately has the star power to push it big time. The Aviator covers the part of Howard Highes life when he went from rich and famous to a uh ... nut case. Female leads are Cate Blanchett and Kate Beckinsale (I think we MURCers have established the babe factor of this in other threads) with Leonardo DeCaprio and Alec Baldwin as the male leads. And Gwen Stafani shows up ... just for fun.

This one looks simply kick ass. This film is being billed as the launch vehicle for the next Asian martial arts superstar, along the lines of Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, and Jet Li. It looks like he's a Thai martial artists named Tony Jaa. Think the lean physique of Bruce Lee, the acrobatics to match Jackie Chan and a world class gymnist, and the ferocious look of Jet Li, all in one guy. Then put him in a movie where he gets to run around Thailand and brawl with every thug looking thing on set. Yeah ... I'm gonna like this one Though it is kind of odd watching a martial arts movie with a guy using Thai kickboxing, and not some form of Kung Fu or Wu Shu. Oh, the movie is called Ong Bak.

And a boot to the head: http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/ong_bak.html/
Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise team up to remake the classic War of the Worlds. I enjoyed the team-up Minority Report, and as long as the original story isn't soundly butchered - don't mind it being modernized a bit, just not butchered - I think this will be a huge summer hit. I haven't seen a Spielberg SciFi movie I haven't liked, so here's hoping for a perfect score!
Invasion: http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/waroftheworlds/
The Life and Death of Peter Sellers looks funny as hell and disturbing all at once. I think I'm gonna like it
Dear god make it stop... http://www.apple.com/trailers/newline/sonofthemask.html
And the final selection is the new Jim Carrey vehicle Lemon Snicket's - A Series of Unfortunate Events. I think everyone in the US has seen a trailer for this at least 100 times, so here's 101.
And now I'm done...
