Been going to physical therapy for treatments. Also applying a dual channel TENS unit (trancutaneous electrical nerve stiumlator) + hot packs several times a day to the left arm & shoulder at home plus doing a lot of tension exercises.
TENS info....
Visited the surgeon today for an updated evaluation.
Results
Pain: considerably decreased and reduced in area to just 50% of my palm and the lower fingers. Sensitivity to pressure way down but not gone....yet. The new skin is still sensitive, but touching it doesn't send me to/through the ceiling anymore.
Drug usage: way down, only needing Vicodin about 1-2 nights a week. Also decreased need for ice packs.
Grip strength: left side increased from 32 lbs a month ago to 95+ lbs today. Right side checks in at 160+ lbs, so some exercise is in order.
High-normal score for males is anything >56 lbs
Thumb-forefinger pinch grip was just 8 lbs on the left but now measures 26 lbs. It's always hung around 32-36 lbs on the right.
Range of motion: increased wrist flexion/extension and finger reach. Still a few problems with accuracy of movement in the 4th and 5th fingers, which mainly affects my typing. Getting better though.
Surgesons decision: If later evaluations are the same or better (she wants to wait 'til March-April) and the MRI isn't to far out of whack then NO SURGERY on either the wrist or neck !!
