  • Sorry for myself.

    1. Caught a cold with a concomitant posterior sinus infection causing a tracheitis from a postnasal drip. Coughed my guts out (literally)

    2. Am booked for an inguinal hernia operation on the 28th. Because of my medical history, this must be done with open surgery rather than laparoscopic methods, under a general, rather than epidural anaesthesia.

    3. Telephone line out of action for >48 hours. No Internet.

    4. Went to car to find a flat tyre. Wheel nuts were too tight and I didn't want to strain too hard, so had to call a garage to come and fix things.

    5. A debtor who owes me £1100 has declared bankruptcy.

    6. Spent 2 days without Internet reorganising my workspace and clearing up accumulated papers and other mess.

    Merry Christmas, everyone

Geeze, I feel sorry for you too.
On the other hand, things are bound to improve, if only becasue of the statistical improbibility of so many things going wrong at once.

      7. Sorry, forgot the worst: son-in-law coming for Christmas

(No, neither my wife nor I like him, and I don't think my daughter does, either, as there are noises of divorce in the air, just to make things even more pleasant )

Well, as for #7; it may be unpleasant, but it may provide a good start for things to improve in the new year

Good luck Brian. Hope your docs are as good as mine were.

Does he have any young(ish) daughters you could take advantage of?
Perhaps one of them is even a trained nurse, who could help your "recovery"...

                  Shish. Happy Christmas anyhow!

                    8. My bloody fax machine has now rendered its soul to its maker! God rot his guts

At least, I known 2005 can't be as bad as the end of 2004!!!

As it so happens, he has a youngish daughter who is quite attractive, but I'm not going to risk 10 years in clink for seducing a minor

Hope your docs are as good as mine were.
Hope they're better Of course, they don't know yet I cant pay 'em because of 5.

Back from hospital, after three of the best surgeons on the island and the best anaesthetist did their worst. They had potential problems with the cauterisation because of the pacemakerm so one of the surgeons was a cardiologist in case of need of connecting up an external pacemaker. Happily, this was not necessary.

I'm told the hernia was a very large one and they had to use two nets. All as a result of a commom cold.

Anyway, other than a sore belly, everything seems OK now: stitches out next Wednesday if all goes well. However, there may be some healing problems because of the radiation therapy I received in the same general area.

Thanks, for your good wishes, all!
