Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

Unethical and stupid. We aren't god. Death is a part of life; we should accept that. And no clone is going to be the same as the original creature, nor should creatures be created just as a replacement for lost ones.

I first thought this was about the 'anti-allergy cats'. They are working on genetically modifying cats so that people with cat allergies wouldn't be allergic to them.

      But this is indeed stupid...

I don't think it's unethical, but it definitely is stupid
All because people think that identical genes result into identical behaviour..

Reminds me of that Stephen King novel about people and animals coming back if they're buried in the right spot. But they're different. Pet Semetary?

If one of us was cloned it would not be us. Souls are unique. I can't imagine why people are shallow enough to think they are really getting their kitty back. I would rather have kitty have children and have the offspring.

The cat - sad, very sad sad woman.

What really interests me about cloning, is the ability to replace parts - no I am not talking about growing full bodies and harvesting, I would be most interested to see a way to grow individual parts.

Just for a quick example, I normal happy healthy 3yo get hit with the flu, it triggers type 1 diabeties.
take a cell sample (bone marrow and stem cells anyone), maybe tweak the dna if possible so the new pancreas is not so suceptable to to failure, grow a new pancreas in vat, or maybe even inside the child?? implant. no regection, no costly drugs and the child can have a normal childhood.

This is the sort of thing I would love to see cloning being used for - to improve the quality of life for those living, not to bring back the dead or create super humans.

Now, all I can think of is the Ramones - "I don't want to be buried in a pet semetary".

why is it considered unethical? sooner or later a human will be cloned mainly because people have more money than what they know what to do with.
so open the flood gates clone everyone and their pets

Well, the world will only ever be ruled by money, unfortunately. So rich fools get genetic copies of their pets while poor people who need organs will die. We are a sad bunch.
