I saw this picture, and my heart broke completely.

I am just so sad, I hate having exams, and not being able to go down there.

Just seen some more images on the news. Amazing scenes of destruction towns just gone. The morning tide washing up thousands of bodies.
How the hell are you going to clear up where are you going to start???

The danish contribution is now in excess of 16$ per capita.

The numbers of affected people are staggering.

My boss and one of my wifes bridesmaids were in Sri Lanka at the time. My wife's friend is back safe now, but there has been no word from my boss

Some before and after satellite images

The devastation of the low-lying area is unbelievable until seen.

                            Another interesting story :
All seemed OK, but then the water receded 150 feet in a few seconds. We immediately put two and two together – the earthquake and the unusual sea activity. We packed our things in seconds and ran off the beach.

Phew!!! A temporary sigh of relief. I just read through this thread and thought I was reading about the current disaster and wondered why the CNN site was so behind the news. I pray the lessons learned from the last disaster keep the fatalities to a bare minimum. Bracing for more bad news ...
