Seems like the building where I work got pretty shook up this morning...I was on a canal boat at the time and when I got there most of the people were outside and not in much of a mood to get back inside. Last I heard on the local news, about 20 people got swept up by the tsunamis in the South and some popular resort islands were going to get evacuated...And I'm going to Macau & Hong Kong next week

Fifth biggest earth Quake since 1900. Has the Tsunami hit all the areas in the Indian ocean or is still on it's way????

It always annoys me when you hear "Some Britains are dead etc etc"

I think it's equally bad that anyone from any country has died and does it really matter where they come from ????

I wouldn't be surprised if the death toll topped out around 20,000 or so. Probably the biggest death toll since krakatoa.

I'm sorry for any familes that are suffering a loss at this time.

Iagree with you Pit skys coverage thsi morning was not very good, I think they must have had their b team out as it was a holiday weekend.

We are thinking of everyone involved in the incident.

Hope this isn't a seriously scary portent of activity in the Toba caldera.

                      You aren't the only one!!

The last time the Toba supervolcano let go (~75,000 years ago) it reduced the human population of Earth to about 2,000-5,000....TOTAL!!

IIRC that eruption was 10,000 times the size of Mt. St. Helens last pop.

Looks like my orginal estimate of 20,000 being sadly wrong. Already up to 23,000.

Perhaps now they'll consider getting some warning systems in place.
