My company, with a net profit of $2.5 BILLION canadian for fiscal year 2004, donated a whopping $150,000. They'll match employee donations to a further $100,000.
Sad.Last edited by agallag; 11 January 2005, 11:19.Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard coated bastards with bastard filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive, bubble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine. -- Dr. Perry Cox

3 million USD from my company plus local staff freed up to help plus full matching of employee donations in most countries (no limit set - currently at around a million if not slightly more - c. 100k employees worldwide). Also all cash has already been channelled directly through the local operating companies in the countries concerned so as to be targetted most effectively via trusted personnel and NGO partners. This is all so far and the numbers are still growing daily.
Also our companies in the region are supporting local relief efforts with e.g. free fuel, water and other activities.
And the occasional oddity - like an internal launch of a big reorganisation features a wave motif heavily in the "publicity" material - what would have been spent on changing this has been donated instead and a note added to explain this and to acknowledge the sensitivity.
And all staff are accounted for, which is a relief.
Sometimes this company can do things OK...DM says: Crunch with Matrox Users@ClimatePrediction.net
