Actually i should list the things wrong with it first:

roof is cracking and now leaks when it rains.. in various spots
check engine light on at all times
brake light on at all times
brakes think they are always on, so i have to unplug them everytime i get out of my car.
buttons have fallen off of radio.
tail lights dont work when you brake
left drivers side mirror no longer there
brakes dont work all that well
old tires are on it, except for one new purchased this weekend.
car rusting at an incrediable rate
hey its got new windshield wipers though!
A/C no longer works, heater works great though
    broken parts through out
and i cant remember what the are called but i need something in the front replaced cause when you turn the wheel the car sounds like its going to fall apart.
    the paint is stripping off

Where was that thread that featured the 200,000mi Toyota pickup that they put through all sorts of hell and it still started? They parked it in the ocean and let the tide come in, put it on top of a building as it was imploded, etc. That British guy who advertises Campbell's Soup hosted it.. it was pretty impressive.

        you mean the CV joints?
when this goes, you will definetly be motionless.

really, you were taking a big chance going on a 2600 mile trip, considering all that is wrong with it.

I used to put 360 miles a day on an old '87 Nissan Sentra when I was a courier, poor thing would probably still be running if I hadn't wrecked it.

Also used to drive my current '87 Cavalier just about as much on a different route, but since I don't do that any more it's got a much easier life now.

My '89 Honda Civic lasted me all through high school, uni, and a trip from Florida to Oklahoma. Didn't die on me till it incurred a really bad oil leak that I didn't notice in time.

Don't recall how many miles I put on it, but it held up better than any vehicle I've owned since.

My bro's '89 Honda civic took a beating and still ran. He didn't even change the oil the whole time he had it. He wrecked it twice (one was a head on collision), and it still ran! amazing!

Funny that, wrecked my Civic twice as well. I never had problems with not changing the oil, but when it lost all the oil it had in a rather sudden spill, which I didn't notice till I'd driven across town and it started smoking, it just lost the will to live (or maybe I just decided it was time to move on).

In comparison, my '99 Ford Winstar has been in and out of the shop since we got it (used) almost two years ago. POS.
