  • ASCAP going a bit overboard?

At Yahoo Finance, you get free stock quotes, up-to-date news, portfolio management resources, international market data, social interaction and mortgage rates that help you manage your financial life.

Wouldn't you think that hearing a piece of music you like at a bar might stimulate sales, making the performance free advertising and something thinking artists/producers might actually want?

I'm as much against copyright infringement as the next content producer, but IMO this is taking things a bit far....

Heck, I've now become a big Fleetwood Mac fan (and have bought their recent "best of" compilation) after watching a young lady dance to their tunes at a gentlemen's club. Every time I hear Rhiannon or Silver Springs I can see here slowly spinning on that pole!

    P.S. You've been Spanked!

The computer store I used to work at actually had someone complain about copyright infringement from our music on hold! We ended up switching to NPR to avoid the hassles.

This was about 15 years ago, so this type of thing isn't exactly new (but still stupid).

This is in line with the global media powers end destination: a new race of humans without natural eyes or ears, but instead DRM-enabled video and audio receptors. I've got a bad attitude, I know.

And to think Mozart died penniless.

If Mozart was alive now, these slimeball record company execs would be using him as a poster child when it was THEM who ripped him off in the first place.
