    Hero

    Just seen this film.

    One word - awesome.

    I'm not sure if I can convince the wife to watch it... but it has to be one of the best films i've seen in ages. I watched it in english as the subs were somewhat distracting.

    Now that I know the plot, I'd love to watch it again in as it was intended.

    If you've not seen it, you're missing out!

      I understand a fair amout of Mandarin (because my mother tongue is Cantonese) so i watched it when they imported the DVD from China all the way back in ~2002. Definitely worth the purchase.

      My absolute recent Chinese films.

      So artistic.

      Words would never do the justice.

              Back on topic,
              Hero was one of the movies in recent times that i feel was just perfect with the subject matter. The king was portraited very well in a different light than is normal (usually he is a tyrant and left as that) and this was the guy who built the Great Wall of China AND who destroyed many books of the that time (the movie tries to hint why he did that)

              Jet Li's character was very well done, as is everyone actually. My favourite scene in the movie is the one at the end when Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung fight and Tony lets him be bested by her and dies. Shows up the differences in men and women. (sorry liz and other gals) but men seem to be able to forgive more than women. "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned"

              and of course i get to ogle at Maggie Cheung, gods! i can still remember her from the first "Police Story" she hasnt changed much except maybe more lovlier. Zhang Ziyi is not too bad though
