I thought Yorkshire pud is served as a starter with gravy, to cut the appetite, so that you would eat less of the more expensive beef. Of course, it is well known that Yorkshiremen are closer to their money than Scotsmen! At least, the latter can reach their money easier in their sporran than a Yorkshire bloke who has his pockets at the bottom of their trouser legs

I might eat Yorkshire Pudding, but NEVER Yorkshire Pud!
