Do you really have no passport? Is that really possible in the US?

What means of personal identification do you have, then, when for example the police asks for ID?

If I'm not mistaken, they use their driver's license, credit cards, anything that holds some ID information...
Quite a difference from Belgium, where you have an ID card - accepted througout Europe - which you must carry around at all times. It is also accepted to carry your passport (if you have one) with you in stead of the ID card.
(no other document is considered a valid proof of ID !)

Not that I know of. In germany, it's your ID card, and you theoretically need to carry it all day, every day, though this isn't really enforced (mainly because there is no reason to check everyone's passport all the time).
