It wasn't an atomic explosion - they were using the Spear of Destiny, of course!

          or a "boomstick"
Better to let one think you are a fool, than speak and prove it

I am intrigued - what is this "boomstick" of which you speak?

Haven't you ever seen the movie "Army of Darkness"? In it Ash refers to his S-Mart shotgun as a "boomstick"

As far as the Germans exploging a tactical nuke in 1945, that's a load of BS. First off it's more difficult to produce a mini-tactical nuke of .1 to .2 kt (based on the 500 sq/m blast mentioned) than a strategic one, and I doubt the Germans were up to it at their level of technology.

If you were Hitler wouldn't you have "tested" this thing by dropping it on a column of T34s?

not really. if they failed to work and wound up in the hands of the enemy they stand to gain technology and insight into your R&D program.

rule #1 in information warfare - don't give the enemy any more solid intelligence than you absolutely have to.
rule #2 strangely happens to be that a lack of solid intel can perhaps be more revealing than having solid intel.

                  aaanyways.
