      Your first mistake was ordering a Sony part for a IBM.

        Your second mistake was using a right boot. IBM specifically says, use a left black boot that is freshly polished, to add lubrication to the insertion. I think they're afraid of right boots in case Donald Rumsfeld was wearing it

              Rule #1: when replacing such parts find one similar on the product and take it to whatever hardware store the local trades people use. 98% of the time you'll find either something identical or so close it won't matter.

              In our area it's Northside Hardware in Wayne, MI. That place has so much stuff you can hardly work your way through the aisles
