Dr. Halls' BMI site is recommending some alarmingly low weights in my case. I'm almost at the top of the range and I start to feel poorly when I get much lower on my weight. I wouldn't want to look much skinnier than I am at this upper range. I hope people are really careful about the rate at which they change their weight and carefully monitor how they feel as they go along so they don't cause themselves more harm than good.

@Jesterz: actually I do have a drunken before shot of the gut. There's no way I'm sharing that just yet though

@Fluff: Rowing machine might be a little unfair... at my most unfit I can still do 2k in about 7:40 - I'm aiming now to get it sub 6:20 like I could do 5 years ago. I did use to row/train for rowing 36 hours a week though

@Everyone else: will collate numbers tomorrow and see what we've got so far. Sorry had to pop to The Hague for a day so haven't done a thing yet. (Getting one of the company jets back was quite a nice experience though )

          BMI Calculation

Well, I used the BMI calculator that tjalfe posted.
It turns out that I am 6'6" (198cm) tall .
That is really much better than I expected.

            My daily eating habbit

            Breakfast
egg + sausage + milk + eggo, sometimes cereal + fruit

            Lunch
Sushi half the time, sometimes noodles, rice, burger, depending on what they serve at the uni food market.

            Dinner
Sub half the time, stir fry of some sort half the time, rarely get deep fried stuff from the grill (maybe once or twice a month) + fruit most of the time.

            Snack
Soy pudding, tea (chinese / green), egg roll, seaweed. Rarely eats chips.

Definitely no smoking / drugs etc etc.

I think I am underweight. I am 108lb right now, 18 years old. Almost every girl I have meet says I would look better if I have a bit more fat on me. *sigh*

I've always been stocky and had a big butt - for a white guy - but enough with the excuses...

I'm 5'9" tall and have a weight of 220lbs (approx 100kg), mostly in my nice round belly. According to the link tjalfe posted, my ideal weight is about 188lbs, while the recommended medical weight is between 129-169lbs. I'd be happy to be around 180lbs, just being realistic.

Knowing how my body is, I think 2lbs a week is a good goal to start with. My only problem is that I match my wife on lbs gained when she's pregnant (gained the same amount as she did with our last)

Sounds good, and great timing. Started exercising yesterday, and cut out the coke again.

I'm 162 cm and weigh ~95 kg. My long-term aim would be ~72 kg (the recommended low of 50 kg would mean I could hide in my ribcage, though 66 might be barely OK).

I gained 20 kg in a year, and I can lose as much.

I'll aim for 1-2 kg a week, but since this will be my first true attempt I don't know how fast or slow I'm going to lose weight (not very fast, I'm too hungry a guy for that )

Time for the weekly update, when I checked tuesday morning down to 107.6

How did we all do after the first week?

Lost just a notch under 2lbs. Easter dinner did me as I indulged myself a bit

                              I forgot all about this.

I'll weight myself now anyway. Shouldn't we all work out our BMI or whatever it's called so this is fair? I'm about 5'8" I think, and I weigh (god I'm gonna have to get naked now) 168lb.

My BMI is 25.5 which means I am overweight by 0.5bmi. I need to lose 4lb to get to normal weight, but I'll aim for losing 18lb as this is much further into the normal weight bracket of BMI.

                              My daily eating habits are:

                              No breakfast
Lunch if I feel like it and is usually something easy like cheese on toast
Dinner is usually pizza or burgers or roast or something like that.

Lizzie, you will have noticed that that was tremendously different to what I ate over there, but that's because I was on holiday and wanted to go out for dinner with a lot

No, BMI isn't fair either. It says I'm rather unhealthy. It thinks I could lose 10lbs of muscle, add 5lbs of fat, and be "healthier."
