Reminds me of an april joke (april 1, 2000) on dpreview: the site owner posted a news article about a new imaging sensor that could read red/green and blue on the same spot (mutlilayer). Just two years later, Foveon announced such a sensor: http://www.dpreview.com/news/0202/02021101foveonx3.asp
