Okay, I missed a whole lot.
I haven't watched F1 since the days of Prost and Sienna, but I did know that Ferrari just dominated the last few years on mostly boring pole to finish races. So what happened? I always liked the way Alonso drives, but what made Renault such great cars this year?
Second race in a row I get reminded to watch just in time by Tony (tape delayed until noon local time here) thanks, mate! (And thanks for not putting the spoiler in for those of us on tape delay )

Not too much of a spoiler to say what an embarassment the Minardis had at the start. And it was a software glitch.. looked pretty pathetic to say the least.
OK, it IS boring , going in circles all the time (dont feel bad the only race that is TRUEly driver skill is the IROC as all drivers have identical cars and the only one I'll go outta my way to watch IMHO)
Better to let one think you are a fool, than speak and prove it

Renaults have always been the fasted starters (every start, even last year, they were fastest off the line), but I have no idea where that difference comes from.
I guess they found a sweet spot in the settings...

Maybe they are just better at hiding their secondary fuel tank?
Seriously though, they were very promising indeed last year. I guess they just got fully hooked up this year, and of course have some very talented drivers. Their resources ain't be be sniffed at either.
Montoya needs to watch his back this year... Raikonnen is outclassing him in everything except personality atm.
Its amazing to see just how much faith all the teams have in Ferarri's ability to come back to the front.

If they wait long enough to do it though, it won't matter. If his equipment continues to fail as it has so far, I predict Schumi will hang it up in disgust at season's end.
The Ferarri's clearly have the speed: this was proven in Imola, and in Barcelona (where MSCH set the second fastest lap - Fisichella setting the fastest on his final lap - at 0.4s faster than Raikonen).
So the only thing that they lack is reliabality and proper tires...
Given the imortance of the tires and the pressure Ferarri will put on them, I doubt it will take Bridestone a long time to make competative ones.
So once their reliabality is sorted out, they will be an important player...
(compare it to Raikonen earlier this year: the speed clearly was there)

I dunno (about schumi retiring this year)...he really hates to be beaten, and I can't see him wanting to retire as 'the defeated world champion'. I reckon he'll try for one more and then go.
