  • Steve Martin: The Mark Twain Prize....

    Steve Martin is soon to be awarded The Mark Twain Prize for American Humor given by The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC;

    I can't think of anyone more deserving of The Mark Twain Prize than Steve Martin. I almost burst a gut the first time I saw his "King Tut Strut" routine on Saturday Night Live.

    Besides his slapstick humor I loved his performances in Parenthood and Father of the Bride I & II. Any father with a heart should melt watching those movies.

    Of course the above examples are but a small part of his contributions to humor, and not just American humor.

    IMHO Steve Martin is an asset to the entire civilized world.

    BRAVO!!

    Some previous winners: Carl Reiner, Lily Tomlin, Richard Pryor, Jonathan Winters, Whoopi Goldberg, Bob Newhart & Lorne Michaels (producer of Saturday Night Live).

      Yes, I have...but then every actor has movies that were only a payday.
