Y'know, there's really nothing wrong with Volkswagons... except that they STILL CORNER ON THREE WHEELS.

They had this ad a few years back for... driving excitement (y'know, Fart Fig Newton?)... that showed the car tearing around a corner at high speed. On three wheels. Yeah, THAT inspires us to think it's a high-performance vehicle.

I know. You'll note that I misspelled "driving excitement" as well. Rather intentionally.

For what it is worth, I'm quite pleased with my latest VW (same model as in the spoof ad)... This is a small car, yet it doesn't feel like a small car while driving (one doesn't even hear the difference between 120 kph or 140 kpg ).

But I'm a calm driver, so I don't care about high performance...

The minor points for me are:
            • no ESP (ok, was an option), I thought I wouldn't need it, but the throtle and automatic gearbox are quite aggressive, causing unavoidable wheelspin in some situations (i.e. departing from a wet ditch, departing from a zebra crossing, ...)
            • speedometer can be hard to read in daylight (solution is to turn on the lights)
            • no light in the trunk

VJ, I still can't really believe that you have no blub in your trunk.
Even my parents '97 Polo has a bulb in the trunk (left hand corner)

and actually my parents have the new generation Polo in Germany! I've never seen it personally, but I could ask my dad to check if it has a light bulb when he goes back in a few month

Every car I can remember my family ever owning had a trunklight, even the 68 Impala.

Just checked the VW site (the model Polo has had a small revision)...
and now there is a light in the trunk!

                          Finally!
