  • email service withou authorisation

Situation: I'm playing with obscure email client, that doesn't support authorisation properly yet. So...any of you know about some free email with smtp/pop3 support that doesn't require authorisation (not sure actually how that feature is called in ENG...) while sending mails?

POP without a password? I dunno, man. SMTP without a password is pretty common though... but not anonymously over the 'net, I mean think about the potential for enormo-spam!

Why use an obscure one? Why not use a good one, like Mozilla Thunderbird, which is open-source and you can modify at will?

Gurm, I don't mean without a password, I mean something that doesn't require, uhmmm...there's a checkbox in OE/Thunderbird/etc. about some more advanced authorization method.
Brian, I have my very good reasons.

        Still searching...

No no, I know what you mean.

          Here's how it works.

          POP3 always requires a password.

SMTP, by default, does not. But many many servers require it now. MOST do, in fact, or else they require that you be physically connected to their network.

So for example my Comcast doesn't require SMTP authorization, but my Gurm.net account does because I'm not physically attached to Dreamhost.

You will most likely NOT find anyone on the Internet willing to give you an unprotected SMTP account, due to the fact that they don't know you, and that's an easy way to let someone blast out several million pieces of spam through their servers.

He could possibly be referring to SPA, secure password authentication. It's basically NTLM v1 authentication on top of POP3.

Oh ah. If so, then ok yeah there are LOTS and LOTS of places without it. Most, in fact.

OK, I've made the sacrifice and unhid OE; I want server that doesn't require this option: (yeah, polish...but the location is the same I guess)

And you know, requirement for it was introduced quite recently at free webmails here...2 years ago I think...

Anyway, I think I've found the list of providers that are suitable at the app webforum...

Sure looks like the "outgoing server requires authentication" checkbox.

That'd be SMTP authentication, something that is more and more common. Good luck finding a freebie that doesn't require it.

ISPs don't usually require authentification for outgoing messages, so you want to use SMTP from your ISP and POP ir IMAP from some free provider such as volja.net or email.si
