Who the hell is Jack Kilby, you may ask? Well, without his idea, you would not be reading this message. He thought of putting multiple transistors on a single silicon chip, to make the first integrated circuits, way back when I was a lot younger. He received a Nobel prize for his work.
There is virtually no electronic device today that does not use an integrated circuit. Jack Kilby can therefore be rightly described as the father of modern electronics.
