  • 2008 Hillary -vs- Dick Cheney?

    http://www.aspentimes.com/article/20...NEWS/108100041

    Bob Woodward
“theorized that Hillary Clinton would earn the Democratic nomination in 2008 and would run against Dick Cheney,”

    I can't even imagine.

No, seriously. A lesbian versus an old guy with a heart condition whose approval ratings are at an all-time low? I think not.

      Hillary ... maybe.

      Cheney ... not a chance.

But if Hillary does run in 2008, I'm voting for the other person. Fridgid bitch comes to mind each time I see her ... it ... whatever.

Well, it didn't surprise me that he would theorize that Clinton would run.

        But Cheney?
Why would someone as astute as Bob Woodward say that, even as a joke?

Yeah.. if Cheney ran it would be his running mate you would be electing, most likely. The presidency seems to take a toll on everyone.. dunno if he would be up to another 4-8 years..

Too bad McCain is getting up there. Even so, I'd support his nomination big time.

I think not likely for either. Nominating Hilary is automatically giving presidency to GOP, despite some of fringe Demcorates being a bit radical, the primaries generally focus on electability, which Hilary doesn't posses.

McCain - I like him also but he's probably going to be to old to run by then.

If Hilary vs Cheney would really happen, you could really say you have voted for the lesser of evils .

You'd be surprised. Hillary is quite electable, because the media would go into a frenzy trying to help her, and all of the wacko feminists who will vote for a woman just because its a woman (though thats debatable in Hillary's case... ) would come out for her. When she runs, Hillary will get the dem nomination essentially handed to her and at that point its a toss-up as to who wins the presidential election. I think the republican party would have to put McCain up to beat her, and either Rudy Giuliani or Mit Romney to have a good chance. I think the ideal ticket would be McCain/Romney for pres/vp, and even then you're still talking about a close race decided by a couple states.

                No way.

First off, the USA is not... repeat NOT... ready for a woman president. That's not to say that some of us wouldn't be, but... oh fvck it who am I kidding?

A woman can't be president today any more than she could have 20 years ago. It just SEEMS like she could. And frankly, the ONLY way you're going to convince me that a woman is stable enough to put in a position of "nuclear war starting capability" is if she's past menopause.

Like it or not - and I hate to go all "Newt Gingrich" on y'all here - a woman goes... well, unstable... 4-7 days out of every month. Period. It happens, it's real, and it's a concern when that woman can, in a fit of pique, push the big red button.

And if a woman is old enough to be president, she's probably old enough to be going through the change. THAT'S what we need. Our president is at a state dinner, and starts having hot flashes, or sweating, or CRYING SPONTANEOUSLY. Yeah, good plan.

Not to mention that there are a lot of countries in the world with whom our relations are already tenuous - and who would stop having relations with us entirely if we had a woman president. No arab nation would talk to us, China would stop taking us seriously (if they even do now, which is debatable).

No, no serious politician in the country is going to put a woman up for election. It just won't happen. Maybe in another 20 years.

Now a woman VEEP... that we could have.

Margaret Thatcher did alright.. except some dirtbag in a Latin American country thought a woman would be weak so he could just take one of Britain's little islands.. WRONG.

Problem is.. that war did not have to happen at all if the impression of male bombast had been there.

You haven't got the slightest bit of evidence for that.

I could make the exact same charge about Sadams failure to "get the message" and the war in Iraq.

I think that's a gross exaggeration, there's no way that even the President could blow stuff up just like that...she would much sooner be sedated and taken to a "safe place" 'till she recovers.

Plenty of Arab countries have no problem talking with your female Secretary of State, a position with much more exposure and daily work/travel in the field than the Presidency. Let's face it, from their point of view they're simply talking to a representative of the USA, the person itself could just as well be a circus midget. When you're the most powerful country in the world, everybody has to talk to you, whether they like it or not.

I think it's quite likely that she will be the Dem. candidate, for the simple reason that at least right now they don't have anyone in a better position than her...oh, sure, so many Howard Deans and John Kerrys and Al Gores can be found, but what's the use? They've got nothing noteworthy about them and they will lose, especially if they come up against well established players like McCain or Giuliani. She may just have the bitchy thing going for her, but it's something...it's more than anyone else in the party has.

Good idea.. give a third party candidate the white house on a silver platter.

I still want McCain to run.. probably the only decently honest guy in Washington.
