It will probably filter through at some point, but its not the feeling bit thats the problem for people its the interface to the nervous system.
I suppose they can still use the tech with people, they could use at as part of the feedback loop in artificial hands, eg so they can pick up eggs/glasses without crushing them as the tend to now.
