They really don't have news to report about...what's stopping the rapist from examining if the woman uses this? Which of course means that he'll propably be more violent, a bit more for checking, and a lot more if he'll find it.
Sorry, but "passive safety" in the style of airbags doesn't appeal to me in such cases...

How about social engineering?
This is the second country that needs to top women's list of "places not to live". Maybe even higher than Australia, which is (according to the now-defunct thread on the police shooting that innocent guy in London) apparently the gangrape capital of the world.
So we have Australia, famed for its venomous snakes and gangrapes.
Then we have South Africa, home of apartheid and 200,000 rapes a year.
Dayum. This all makes Harlem look like a nice safe place to live! The Internet - where men are men, women are men, and teenage girls are FBI agents!

I suppose if they are ever introduced in the states, there will be lawsuits by the rapist for assault
.. and really, how long would it take for potential rapists to learn that if a string hangs out, pull it out first, or just test with something else, as in rape by stick, before actual rapeWe have enough youth - What we need is a fountain of smart!
