  • Doom: Theatrical Trailer

    http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/doom/

visited Apple's trailer site and saw that the theatrical trailer was posted some weeks ago. Funny to watch, lots of new scenes compared to the old teaser trailer. I just hope they don't overdo it with that running-around-like-in-the-game-perspective ...

Is there anyone here who thinks that the "chainsaw and ugly beast" shot looked... well, like roughly the same as similar shots in Doom3 on a good video card? LOL!

i think that was the point

that being said... do hope they keep that to a minimum... i don't go to a movie to watch a first person shooter, even if it is kind of a neat way to acknowledge the game.

In the trailers I've seen, there has been an awful lot of that first-person perspective going on. Annoying.

            Can't say I'm overly impressed.

They showed that preview before Serenity the other night. Doom looks like it will really suck. Seeing that gun at the bottom of the movie screen was really lame.

If those scenes end up Rami/Campbell cheesy action I can see it being good in a bad way. If they takes those scenes seriously however I can see this film sucking very badly.

It's a good thing neither Final Fantasy movie was filmed in such a manner as to look just like a real game, people would likely be rather confused when the characters line up 3 in a row and take turns attacking during combat.

As for Serenity, I couldn't sit through the movie, it was that bad. Hell, Cyborg 2 which we bought in the $5 bin at Wal-Mart just to laugh at was better!

At one point the dialog was so bad that it sounded exactly like some people playing D&D:

Person 1: This doesn't look good, we may die.
Person 2: That's ok, this campaign hasn't been interesting and I don't really care for this character. If I die and have to re-roll that's fine by me.
                  Person 1: Yeah, me too.

I saw Serenity last night, and I quite liked it. Sure, it didn't quite live up to the hype, but these days nothing does. It was different and fun, and that's good in my book.

So which hype didn't it live up to?

It's gotten nearly no press, and is still one of the most hotly anticipated movies of the year.

                      Did you watch Firefly?
