A BSL Level 4 lab would work on class 4 diseases such as Ebola, Marburg, Lassa Fever and biowarfare agents.
Think in terms of the lab in the old movie "Outbreak" (Dustin Hoffman), but with better procedures
While much of the infectious diseases research is done in Laboratories with BSL1, 2 and 3 capabilities, a BSL-4 laboratory is required for work with dangerous agents that pose a high individual risk of aerosol-transmitted laboratory infections and life-threatening disease. A BSL-4 laboratory is designed to protect researchers and has special engineering and design features to prevent microorganisms from being disseminated into the environment. Researchers who use the BSL-4 Laboratories have thorough training in handling hazardous infectious agents. Access to the laboratory is strictly controlled.Last edited by Dr Mordrid; 6 October 2005, 13:44.Dr. Mordrid
