Perhaps you should have, as that would have been a vastly different statement than the one you initially made. However, in regards to the latest, how are comedians not relevant, especially when taken in the context of ones that star in films? I'd say that Robin Williams, Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, Eddie Murphy, and various others are/were just as relevant as any other actors in terms of popular culture and cinema, which is what we are discussing here.

Personal attack? If you want to take it that way then please do, but anything I've said has been directly aimed at your comments, not you.

Ahh, we all like personally attacking KvH. He makes it soooooo easy!

      *ahem*

I agree that some comedians have taken an interesting turn towards the dramatic, and who knew that Robin Williams was actually a good actor (or that Eddie Murphy wasn't)?

But I do think it's a little irritating that these same comics seem to devolve towards being funny for 10 year olds. It's their career, and their life, and if it's working for them I suppose that's great. It just seems to be formulaic now... formerly edgy comedian turns to family-friendly feel-good comedy. Bleh.

I'll buy the premise that they are as relevant as other actors, which is not really very..

The real greats like Laurel and Hardy or Buster Keaton can still make people laugh generations after their careers are over.. but they didn't devolve into being foul-mouths for the benefit of the worst and most immature sides of us all.. anything comedians might add to society by making people laugh is totally negated when they do this..

And I agree that Robin Williams is a pretty darned great actor.. The World According to Garp completely blew me away when I saw it.. couldn't believe that this was the same outta control nutbag from Mork and Mindy!

And he was great in any number of other things. Pity he didn't get any recognition for it sooner.

Judging the trailer, it's gonna be as useless as most remakes and even worse. Why do this at all?

They are cheap to make, the profit is quick and almost garaunteed because you are working off a "known good" formula, and because Steve Martin needs more drug money.
