What's up with movies this year?

You aren't alone. The movie studios are all "perplexed" as to why this year has been poor for movie attendance... but everyone ELSE can see it - there have been precious few good films this year.

Movie attendancies are down because people are downloading pirate copies off the internet!
Yes, people are saying "Why should we pay £5 and go and see the movie on a HUGE screen, in Dolby THX surround sound within a few days of it opening, when we can spend weeks downloading a copy off the computer, and watch a scratchy, blurred grainy image on a 320x240 screen interrupted by the dude in front of the camera getting up to go to the bathroom with mono sound and the added bonus of being able to hear everyone in the row in front's popcorn rustling!"

I have been to the movie theater once this year, and that was to see Star Wars ep. III. I think the only other movie that got me out of the house, but I didn't watch because it wasn't at the theater I had free passes to, was Batman Begins.

Beyond that I would like to see Wallace & Grommit and Cars. And that's pretty much it. Harry Pothead can wait for DVD release. And that's just about it.

Same here, I only saw Star Wars III in the big screen this year, but I will buy on DVD...

and maybe The Exorcism as I heard it was great.

I don't go out to see movies in theaters as much anymore because I have kids so DVD's save me

We dump the kid at Grandma's for a few hours & go to a matinee, back home for a "cuddle" then have a nice dinner before retrieving him again
