The point made by Russian media re: not being able to prevent such attacks is very valid, but to do so they would have to go head to head with Iran. This is something Russia's unlikely to do until public opinion overrides their desire to sell arms & reactors to 'em.

Iran has been providing logistics, arms etc. to the Chechen & other islamo-facisits for ages.
