  • Drinks? (good taste, but high % of C2H5OH; and not expensive))

Hi, I remember there was once a thread in which some recommendations regarding topic were made.
But I'm in cafe right now and don't have time/money to search it.

    Any new/old ideas?

Uhmm...great, not exactly heard about this ones. Which means not very known here. Which means rare here. Which means expensive.

Oh c'mo, nobody knows some recpe for some killer-drink that...doesn't taste repulsive even thought it has loooots of alcohol?

I wonder what's the simplest way/recipe for it..

For punch. Maybe, Vodka / Gin. White wine, orange juice + cranberry juice.

If you're going for "cheap drunk", you can't beat Purple Jesus. 1 part Everclear grain alcohol, 4 parts grape Kool-Aid. I don't know if you can get Everclear everywhere, but you could always substitue Vodka or similar...

Also add lots of fruit Nowhere, women like that it absorbs the alcohol.

I remember partying with some Canadian engineering students. They made "batch," Everclear with powdered ice tea mix. I'm not sure how much water, if any, was added. But they bought a 50 gallon trashcan to make it in

                    Favorite drinks:
Gin and Tonic (but only with quality gin)

                    Russians:
Black: 1 part vodka, 1 part kahlua
Blind: 1 part vodka, 1 part kahlua, 1 part Bailey's - shaken, on the rocks

Everclear is up to 95% pure alcohol (190 proof), so I sure hope they added some water. Otherwise, sounds tasty!

There is also a 151 proof version of Everclear, but even that should be mixed with something else. Very dangerous stuff.

It takes a few months to make, but you could try a Rumtopf. You nead a large ceramic pot with lid with rubber seal (I suppose plastic would be OK, provided that it is 100% opaque and not hermetically sealed). You put in some Austrian rum which, I think, is 85% alcohol and you add lots of washed fruit (citrus, apples, hard pears, plums, cherries, whatever but NOT anything really mushy like bananas or ripe mangos), making sure there's enough rum to cover the fruit. You then add, for each litre of rum plus the fruit that is covered, 500 g of sugar (I prefer brown sugar) evenly over the top but do not stir. Keep in a cool place and leave for 3 to 24 months. Look at it occasionally: if it starts to ferment, this is because the water in the fruit has diluted the alcohol too much: add more rum to stop it. Do not try this with anything less than about 50% alcohol: it won't work.

The fruit from this very potent brew is ideally served with vanilla ice cream and a little of the liquid. If you drink the liquid, it'll blow the top of your head off so serve in VERY small glasses, such as liqueur ones. Not suitable for drivers

Uhmmm...sounds easy and cheap enough...any particilar advice regarding proportions or should I just try myself to get what I want?

Yeah, I guess when going with 1 part of typical Vodka and 2 parts of Kool-Aid you get pretty good equivalent (we do have something like Everclear of course, but it's cheaper to buy the equivalent amount of C2H5OH in the form of Vodka...) Unfortunatelly, Kool-Aid is totally unknown to me, so even while I know, now, what it is (Wikipedia...), I don't know what would be best substitute...anyone?

                          Sounds...tasty. But kahlua: unknown = rare/hard to get = expensive :/

So...it's something like ours alcoholic tincture, but not made on "pure" alcohol but something more flavoured from the start? (but...might it be Czech rum, not Austrian? )
Sounds very tasty...too bad for the time
(wait a minute, Brian, you have a lot to do with chemistry, and DukeP also form the top of my head, think something up so it'll work in 2 weeks max!

Thanks for help everyone...luckily in other parts of the world people have better ways of heavy drinking than Vodka followed by some juice or pathetic "drinks" from Vodka and juice...(yeah, I can't stand it)

Here's a fun margarita with a kick, I use this a lot at parties: Buy those frozen limeade concentrates. Empty into blender. Measure 1/2-can of tequila and 1/4-can triple sec, throw into blender. Add a splash of lime juice, sugar as needed, and ice. Blend to perfection.

I also recommend this. Even cheap Tequila tastes good with this
