I don't expect them to give me free games, but the online gaming part is free.
(once you buy the game of course)

You got my hopes up for xbox when you said silver is free, free but no gaming...bleh

Well, since my "buddy" disappeared with my Secret of Mana, I'll get Revolution just so I can play that again! (It's just not the same on emulator).

I'm happy playing the old SNES games via an emulator on the XBOX. It isn't the same, but I am sure it will be the same as playing it on an emulator on the Revolution. If you want the same, buy a SNES!

I cannot justify spending 90USD on a game.
My XBOX has been the best console that I have ever bought. I don't play many games on it, but I do stream audio/video from my server. Broswe photo's on my TV. I do these on a daily basis.

I CAN play the entire back catalogue of games from consoles like the MegaDrive/SNES and MAME etc... oh and then there is playing the occasional xbox game as well (I am struggling through Ninja Gaiden Black on hard atm)...

Will I buy an XBOX 360? Probably not as my current console does everything i want.
The only thing that will persuade me to 'jump ship' will be if the xbox stops being supported AND i can modify the 360 to act as a media center.
The Welsh support two teams when it comes to rugby. Wales of course, and anyone else playing England

The 360 acts as a media extender, as long as you have a Media Center PC elsewhere to stream from. XP MCE only costs £72. I'm considering getting one (the 360) to match my HDTV. I won't game much, especially at £45-50 per game. The HTPC could go in a bedroom with a monitor.

I don't understand why people are complaining about the price of games. When Street Fighter II came out for SNES it was $110 CAD.

Speaking of the downloadable games, I think it would be a cool idea for Nintendo to have the console come with say "$50 of free downloadable games," - and have the games at $5-20ish each. Or have it so you can buy vouchers for them or something in certain amounts. Kind of like a gift certificate.* I don't think it would work very well for 10 year old kids to have to get Daddy's credit card or some such thing everytime they get the urge to download a certain game.

*Would be cool to give as a gift - or prizes for online tournaments

MAME, while nice, is far from complete. There is no "complete" N64 emulation. Just being able to play N64 games is a deal-closer for me. If it'll also play my GameCube games, letting me trade in the GC? AWESOME. SNES and NES don't concern me as much, there are good emulators for those... but hey, having it all in one device and OFFICIALLY SANCTIONED by Nintendo?

Remember that SNES emulators require illegal ROMs. The Revolution is awesome from a LEGAL retro-gaming standpoint.

Uhmmm...if you have the original cart, even without the console (or even broken), all is perfectly legal...

Look, the point is that emulation does not "require" beeing illegal.

Wait a minute, Nintendo are offering everything that belongs to Nintendo? Or everything that was ON Nintendo?

Oh sh1t, I was almost (if I had thought about it at all) hoping that consoles will be free from this thing...apparently something to do with from where MS comes from and what people it drags to consoles (when I think about it...practically every Xbox owner I know was of a kind "consoles sux, PCs rulez, Voodoo gives me this nice soap effect on everything and it's the only way one can play 3D game")
