It has been used by cancer patients for a long time, even prescribed, every marijana advocate* will explain you this. They will also explain on the ecology of cloth and paper and other products.

*I personally don't smoke marijuana, what other people smoke is none of my business. I support legalisation as it would take the forbidden fruit attraction out of it as well as move entry to 18 years and curb dealers. Of course it should be off streets, limited to designated places and home. Otherwise, here kids asking you for a light on the street and then pulling out and lighting up a joint with it is not uncommon despite the stufff not being legal.
