It doesn't matter with managed code. And for 64bit code, they have options for favoring different cpus. It's just x86-32bit that they felt didn't benefit much from CPU optimization. Is it really such a big deal?

Seems the Visual C++ 2005 compiler includes a 64bit compiler, and you can use favor:AMD64, favor:Pentium4...etc

Installing VS2005 Pro now... feel the burn!

What's up with M$ and the ubiquitous use of metrosexual Asian men in their product promos? They're even in the install wizard!!!

              sccaarrryyy.

a lot of people seem to be using the Intel compiler for pro work these days. seems it includes some fairly nice debug and optimization tools that make it worth it.

One thing I have to say about VS 2005 is that it installs much faster than VS 2003.
