    1. Candyland game

    2. Jack In The Box

    3. the cardboard box

Dunno about you but when I was a kid I got more playtime out of cardboard boxes than I did out of all the commercial toys my parents could buy.

Probably because of its ability to be turned into anything from a fort or car to a spaceship using nothing more than a pair of scissors, tape, some crayons and a kid loaded with imagination.

They've had the same effect on my kids and grandkids, so I guess some things never change....

Heck yeah. When I was 4 or 5 we got a new washing machine and I got the box to play with. Seemed like a kid-sized house to me at that age. Big fun.

Oh, and I had a friend who bought her cat one of those fancy tower things to play on (the ones with the carpeted platforms.) The cat ignored the $200 tower and had a ball playing in the box it came in.

Nothing beat a big piece of cardboard for hurling yourself down an icy slope. Better than any sled ever made. No control whatsoever!
