I just finished reading "Sword in the Storm". I highly recommend it.
David Gemmell is a terrific writer. Not because he's innovative or does interesting things with language. In fact, his stories are actually quite formulaic and once you've read a few you know how things tend to flow.
He's a great write because he's able to make you care about his characters.
There's a point toward the end of this book in particular when the protagonist did something that revealed a tragic character flaw, and I actually felt bad about it.
It's been a long time since I've felt something for a character in a book.
Anyway, I highly recommend this writer and this book in particular.
