  • Places and stuff in Japan to visit

Asking on behalf of a group of friends, primarily to Sasq and anyone else familiar with Japan. Anything a small group can do for activity in Japan (Tokyo to be more precise), more ceoncerned with with Spa's and stuff that girls can do together. They've never been around Japan, so places good for group activity is probably good for them. *gets and earful for nearly forgetting* And of course, shopping too...

    Thanks.

Lonely planet guide, and the lonely planet tokyo guide.

Spa's erm don't hit them myself, not fond of very hot water.
Shopping, well depends what they want to buy.
When are they due to come?

Sasq can answer about specific places better than I can, but you have to get them in for some karaoke at least once, especially if some locals join in. I can tell you where they likely won't want to go, and that's Akihabara

They planning to head over in April. One of them is an absolute "Ooh, I gotta try this!" type of person, so more unusual activities probably won't be off limits. Shopping wise, probably for more souvenir type of things, and "cute cuddly things" (probably means uh "cute cuddly things" there ).

Karaoke? Well, at least I won't be there to hear them. I'll let them know.

"lonely planet tokyo guide" great. Will look up. Anything else, do tell. Will pass it on.

Thanks, read and replied. Think she's going to bed soon/already. So will pass on details tommorow.

If you wish to go sightseeing, then Kyoto/Nara is the tops but it's quite a way from Tokyo. A bit easier and is a must for both scenery (beautiful wooded mountains, lakes, hot springs, waterfalls etc.) and old culture (temples, traditional architecture etc.) is Nikko which is about 1½ hours train ride from Tokyo (Asakusa station, reserve places) . Minimum whole day excursion, but better still would be an overnight 2-day one, there is so much to see. There are modern hotels (e.g. Kanaya, Prince) or the more modest traditional inns or ryokan (an experience!). I've been there once and it was unforgettable!

Dunno if they've got the time to go elsewhere, but will tell them.
