Felt sorry for Boeing though, all that money and research spent, and the DoD picks Lockheed.

Wonder what will happen to the X32?

          No dissing the F16.
It's one of the classic designs of engineering history.
          Still a great plane.
          And pretty too.

from what I understand, the Boeing proposal for the F-35 had alot more issues then Lockheed design. After they built the prototype, Boeing changed the wing design because of issues in using a pure detla wing and they even had issues with the engine stalling out in VTOL mode!

In the end, Boeing will get contracts for transport type aircraft from the Military, and its not like they dont have a commerial airline business to depend on either
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

              Gripen is prettier!

But seriously...perhaps would fit a bit more - our pilots train MIG-29 take-offs/landings on provisoric runways made of province roads anyway (yep, 2 lanes - and that's our 2 lane road, which means probably American 1 lane ), and Gripen is somehow meant for this thing...
And it would fit in MIG-21 hangars/bunkers...

Do we need more guns and fighter planes into this world? Can't we just live in peace, not in war? All this development money should be spent to all those projects that will prevent all these conflicts before, instead of projects that will solve the situation temporarily afterwards..

Eventually they'll have so many powerful planes they won't be able to help themselves, it'll be like in Starcraft when you have your two dozen battlecruisers or carriers sittin there ready to go...

Seriously though, most world leaders DO need a good dose of Lenon.

It'll be funny when they have no fuel for these planes. Only the nuclear subs will still be operational...

Oh, I'm sure they'll copy the methods of Germans from WW2 then... (and claim it to be an innovation, huh Doc? )

Officialy Gripen can land on 800m free "runway" and start with only 500m (tho Gripen has been seen leaping into the air after only 200m )

Organic chemistry didn't start in 1933. Both it and syn-fuels predate the WWII German efforts.
