Christmas spirit made him asleep or something? After all, the same Christmas means that...a lot of people replaced their Parhelias with something newer, so one of those people can send his old Parhelia to hi...uhmm, wait, it would be better if you'd send it to me! (actually, I'm not as demanding as Gurm - and P series would do, or any other reasonably recent actually )

What happened is that things here have been CRAZY.
New pics are up on Jacob's page:
We've ALL been sick for ... WELL over a week. Maybe a week and a half? 10 days at least. A long nasty cold that starts in the head and moves to the chest. I'm much better now but still congested and coughing up phlegm.
Then we went away - for the weekend before Christmas, for Christmas, and again for New Years.
Julie goes back to work tomorrow, leaving me with both kids until my new job starts. There are, I'm sure, WORSE things in the world, but I can't think of much. I love Jacob dearly, but he's ... impossible to manage. The first month he just screamed, nonstop. Nothing we did helped. When he wasn't sleeping, he was screaming. The doctor diagnosed him with acid reflux - apparently 5% of babies have it bad enough to make them like that.
So now he doesn't scream ALL the time. But he still has major digestive trouble - you can literally feel the gas cramps moving through him, and they make him wail. When he isn't gassy, he's a happy boy... but he wants to be held ALL THE TIME. Can't put him down for more than a minute or two before he starts crying. All of this has meant that it's nearly impossible for us to get ANYTHING done, of course, because one of us has had to be holding him - usually crying - nonstop when he's not asleep.
It's been very tough, and tomorrow I'm going to be put to the test. I'm not done being sick yet, and I'm going to have to deal with crying-boy all day long. I'm a little scared, actually, because I don't think I've got it in me. Logan was so very easy - he cried only when he needed something, and he was perfectly happy to be put down so long as I interacted with him on a regular basis. So I could put him in his chair and do chores, or talk on the phone, or use the computer, or whatever really... he'd happily just watch me, and talk to me, etc.
But this one... well, I'm pretty much going to spend all of tomorrow just holding him. And that's really tough. Means I can't get ANYTHING done, and I just don't deal well with just sitting around all day not doing ANYTHING.
So I'm hoping against hope that the hiring manager will get around to calling me back - or at least be picking up his damn phone - so that I can start this repair job ASAP. It's not a GREAT job but it's a paycheck and it'll get me (and the boys, incidentally) out of the house every day.
SO THAT is where I've been. Sorry for venting. The Internet - where men are men, women are men, and teenage girls are FBI agents!

I would still get screwed

Dr. Mordrid
And we've ALL had it. Me, Julie, Logan, Jacob... my in-laws, my brother-in-law, his wife... EVERYONE. It sucks.
Logan got his flu shot this year, mostly because we didn't want HIM picking up the flu from preschool and bringing it home to infect Jacob. We don't get the flu shot each year... because we're big fans of natural immunity. Just like I disapprove of the Chicken Pox vaccine, I disapprove of the flu vaccine for healthy people. Not that it doesn't WORK. It certainly does. But you have to KEEP GETTING IT. No thank you - I'll not inject something that will guarantee me reduced immunity next year. Yikes! The Internet - where men are men, women are men, and teenage girls are FBI agents!

Hey Gurm,
I feel with for you, and I've said this before....
If you had your second kid first you wouldn't have a second kid.
It was true in our case
My first one was almost a dream baby, my second was much much harder, but not as hard as your Jacob. Hang in there. You'll forget how hard it was.
