I just want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a heartfelt (although slightly belated)...
HAPPY FESTIVUS!!!
Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard coated bastards with bastard filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive, bubble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine. -- Dr. Perry Cox
Festivus: Festivus is a nondenominational holiday featured in an episode of Seinfeld, a popular American television sitcom of the 1990s. It was featured on episode number 166 of the show, entitled The Strike, which first aired on December 18, 1997. Many people, influenced or inspired by Seinfeld, now celebrate, in varying degrees of seriousness, the holiday in real life.
Nondenominational: not restricted to a particular religious denomination; "a nondenominational church"

(you heard from me first!)
Festus is patterned after "Cedar Jack", a man from Curtis' Las Animas childhood. Cedar Jack, who lived about 40 miles out of town in the hills and made a living cutting cedar fence posts, gave Curtis plenty of opportunity to observe him when Jack would come to Las Animas where he would usually end up drunk and in jail.
