  • firefox 1.5 problem, won't start

I just uninstalled firefox 1.07 and downloaded and installed 1.5.

For some reason firefox 1.5 won't start. I get an hour glass for a few seconds and then nothing.

I've tried rebooting. And I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it.

Anybody have any suggestions for things to try?

    Never mind.

I got it working by uninstalling, then manually deleting some folders that the uninstaller had left behind, then re-installing.

Schmosef: occasionally (in rare cases), it is possible for (even) firefox to crash severly. Upon startup it then asks for a profile but says it is already running. Just use taskmanager to kill the process.

I am using firefox 1.5 at work, and I have it crash for me a good 5 times a day now. To the point where I am about to uninstall it and put on the older version, I think I still have saved somewhere. They really need to work on the stability of the browser

VJ is correct: every now and then Firefox 1.5 will seem to quit, but when you check the task list you'll find it still running, which prevents a re-start of the program. Just kill the task and it'll run again.

In my case there wasn't anything firefox related in task manager.

The first time it ran successfully for me it started with the import wizard.

I guess that it was the wizard that had been crashing or having a problem running.

After clearing out the directories that it didn't remove when I uninstalled the old version and then reinstalling the import wizard worked fine and now I'm able to launch firefox.
