Originally posted by JesterzwildYes, that's possible schmo. Women can also incur milk fever, which occurs when there is a (abrupt) stop in breastfeeding and there becomes an over-abundance of milk still in the breast. Rather painful from what I hear.P.S. You've been Spanked!

Depends on the kid. When they need feeding so often as to be onerous then it's time to get off the teat and onto something more substantial. Ours quit when they were about 6-8 months old and went on rice cereal's, mushed fruits & veggies etc. Most of 'em were on semisolid foods by age 1 or so.
BTW: fatty foods in moderation are advantageous in younger children as they contribute to brain development. That direct from our pediatrician & his nutritionist.

Of course, there are possible substitutes for a breast pump :grin:Join MURCs Distributed Computing effort for Rosetta@Home and help fight Alzheimers, Cancer, Mad Cow disease and rising oil prices.

Amazing how many murcers are breast experts
Sadly we couldn't really do that for ours. They were some of the most emotionally painful times we've been through (especially for Wifey) .
That program was on Channel 4 at 9pm last night in the UK. They've been advertising it for a week. I didn't watch it though - was playing Qwizzle again: http://home.planet.nl/~Qwyzzle/
They did show balance though. Somewhat less advertised was a program at 11.10 about men claiming to have the worlds largest penis. I didn't watch that either, prefering to do something with mine rather than look at othersFT.

Talked with my mother at some point about milk fever and having to milk out the exces to prevent it and at what age me and my brother were put on solid food.
What I find disturbing is the people who breast feed past the age of 4, but then again that's not my problem, what I do in my family and how I raise my kinds is

Oops, sorry. On that past 4 thing? My gut feeling is that it is not the best way to do it (assuming there are no clear reasons like lack of clean water or sumting). Ussually my gut feeling is right. Anywhere between 6 and 12 months is fine. Just do not wait with adding to the menu until you stop breastfeeding.Join MURCs Distributed Computing effort for Rosetta@Home and help fight Alzheimers, Cancer, Mad Cow disease and rising oil prices.
