  • I'm happy

Hey, guys, guess what? After 5 years and 8 months of waiting, I've finally got ADSL. Granted, the max download speed is only 1 Mbit/s but it's a helluva sight better than 56 kbit/s max.

I still have nightmares about my old 56k connection (many years ago).............the dial-up sound.

I still remember when I got 1Mb DSL.

          It was awesome.

          Like a whole new experience.
          P.S. You've been Spanked!

Dunno, I kinda like that retro-sound thingy...
I still have 56K, though I often use GPRS (23 K even though the phone goes up to 43K).

Woohoo, welcome to the fast lane Brian. 1mbit is a decent speed, definitely better than 56k that's for sure!

Having that said, I am only on Sympatico's 2Mbps line right now because my place can't do 3Mpbs.

                      So slow.

                      Well could be faster.

                      Worse... uni's bandwidth is 1.5GB/WEEK.
                      Ew!!! 1.5GB/week??? Boo!

I don't know about you guys but Sympatico in Quebec is HELLA slow, more like 400kbit/sec, even on a 3.1mbit connection. As for the competitors, well, that's a different story.

Piffle. 1MBit is only slow if you're looking to move a ton of data around (like run P2P, hehe). The reduced latency is what you're really after. Who cares if downloading the latest service pack is a 10 minute affair instead of a 1 minute affair? So long as it isn't a "queue it up over a long weekend" affair.
