Satan is a Christian concept, and is one of the things that made the Romans so leery of Christianity for so long. "Wait, let us get this straight. Your all-powerful God allows this evil entity to roam the earth at will, corrupting people and thus dooming them to eternal torment?"
Do why did he show up at all? Why then? Why did the snow melt?

      Yes! I hated this!

Frodo is 33 at Bilbo's party. Gandalf says "keep it secret, keep it safe".

SEVENTEEN YEARS PASS. Yes, 17. Frodo is FIFTY (50) when he sets out on his adventure.

But it's done in two movie cuts, of Gandalf looking through some scrolls and Frodo drinking with his friends.
